Hello, I'm Tess

Creating is my lifeline. Whether it's photography, design, food, or garden soil on m hands, I'm alive when I'm building, imagining, reinventing. It's how I breathe, how I stay curious, look for opportunity, and keep evolving — ever chasing the next creative challenge.
There’s a kinship among creators whose work is so alive that people find their way to it — and return, time and again. I'm in awe of what I see around me every day. Courage, dedication and sacrifice— people following their dreams and staying the course.
Here's to the makers, the builders, the risk-takers, the side-hustlers, the artists, the tinkerers, the explorers, and every wild-hearted creator, following their talent—carving out something that speaks to them.
With fierce admiration,
—Tess
Life whispers to us— in the quiet times, the wild times, and in all the messy moments in-between. MOD on the Fly grew from listening to those whispers...
The Dream that gave Mod on the Fly it's name.
I was walking through an old, one-of-a-kind house. Three individual glass-walled dining nooks pointed toward a heavily wooded forest. The architecture was unique and the main bedroom's glass doors opened to a small brick-laid stepping area and a serene pond of crystal and aqua waters. The light was soft, the floors creaked... and as I studied the details, the place quickly came alive.
Florists and musicians arrived. The warm glow of candles flickered. People laughed and visited over their meals, caterers moved through the halls, furniture slid into place like it had been waiting for its cue. I shared hors d' oeuvres with my family, and as I wondered through the space—taking it all in, I noticed a beautiful, oversized vintage business card lying on the counter —
As I picked up the card, I studied what was written. In ballpoint pen, (capital letters), hand-written and re-written: "MOD ON THE FLY."
That business card is the north star for Mod on the Fly—Modern reinvention, done in real life.
